The Essentials of Jamming Location Rise Up Singing — Weekend Workshop An introductory weekend where we explore our voices through exercises, sharing & discussion—and most of all, singing!—in a safe, supportive environment. Saturday and Sunday, 1:00-4:30 p.m. Cost: $95 Rise Up Singing — Eight-Week Program Join us for an eight-week program in which we look at inhibitions around singing and explore vocal techniques. In a safe, supportive environment, we will work through exercises and group singing to encourage "freeing" your voice. In this group, you will: • learn how to access your full voice • gain awareness of what is blocking/inhibiting your expression • develop confidence and learn to love your voice • support others in their expression • gain tools to work on the technical aspects of voice • have fun! sing out! Women's group Fall 2008. Dates TBA. Cost: $265 Rise Up Singing — Women's Choir Experience the joy and power of singing together as we gather for eight weeks and make music with our voices. We'll work on songs by female artists, learning melodies and harmony parts. Our final week will be a public performance, which we will develop together over the course of the workshop. No audition is required, only a love of singing and a willingness to practice in between our weekly meetings. There will be opportunities to sing solo for those who are interested. Afternoon workshop (co-ed) (led by Jude Vadala) Saturday, November 29, 2008. 1:00-4:00 p.m. Cost: $45 The Essentials of Jamming — Weekend Workshop Whether at open mics, festival workshops, or house parties, instrumental jamming is a big part of the musical scene. Understanding the essentials of jamming can make the difference between chaos and an inspiring musical experience! The weekend will be divided into both instruction and playing, as we explore rhythm, dynamics, keys, structures, styles, scales, traditions, leading and trading off, in a friendly, non-judgmental environment. All instruments and skill levels are welcome. Amps and drum kits will be limited for space and volume in order to accommodate acoustic performance. Co-ed group (led by Sam Turton) TBA.
